I know that FriendFeed offers a changelog so I decided to search it. If you look <a href="http://changelog.friendfeed.com/2008/05/rooms-and-more.html" rel="nofollow">here</a> you will see an item with the description "add service refresh and also improve delete a bit" you will also see "change to 'Refresh feed'". Both of these added on 5/13/08. So best I can tell that's when they added this. Ahh...I'll be able to sleep much better tonite. Ok, this was bugging me a little so I decided to research a bit more.
