Agreed with a lot of points in this post Mark. Facebook buying Friendfeed did put a damper on it's progression as a service at the level of twitter (although the site is still very active). In the same way, the controversy of Yong Fook switching his website from Sweetcron to Posterous has caused question for it's progression as well (but at least Sweetcron is Open Source, hope to see a fork soon).

I'd say Posterous owned 2009, Foursquare will own 2010. Storytlr going Open Source I think was a huge advantage to the progression of lifestreaming platforms, and Amplifeeder now provides a platform for the ASP.NET lovers.

What I'm hoping to see in 2010 is an iteration of one of these open source platforms getting a lot of the features that make Posterous great. Besides that, it'll need a simple filtering system to eliminate duplicate posts, and a plug-in building system like what Mozilla Raindrop is working on. That's just what I'd like to see, there's so much potential, we'll see what happens!

I am starting to hate this because now instead of following someone's twitter account and also their blog and also their facebook feed to see their various messages, now I see the same messages in all forums. Starting to be a big duplication problem.

Agreed, Twitter has taken over people's online life in all aspects. But where the 140 character space is interesting, I really wish people could see the advantages in other spaces.

As far as friendfeed goes, I'm really hoping Florida's Cliqset fills the void in 2010. I think the talent there (as far as what I've seen lately) is there, and it can emerge on top easily if it finds more adoption.
